The Ur-moeba table top design interface demonstrated an application for tangible interfaces with urban planning. This is the first trial of the Sociable Design Platform (SDP) and it aims to enhance the versatility of conventional CAD software as a design tool by connecting it to a more interactive and dynamic environment and enhance it for a specific simulation scenario. In this context, it demonstrated a generative urban simulation.

Ur-moeba テーブルは複雑な都市計画のシュミレーションをテーブル上で再現することを目指したソーシャブルデザインプラットフォーム（SDP）の開発版である。簡易なテーブルのうえに投射された都市のイメージは、参加者が「パック」と呼ばれる消しゴム大のコントローラーを移動することでインタラクティブに反応し、その様子を刻々と変化させる。SDPを通じて、参加者はそのシミュレーションのルールを直感的に理解することができ、また複数の参加者が同時に関わることが出来るこの方法によって、チーム内のコミュニケーションを円滑にすることが期待されている。
