This 1-Day workshop was held in the Garden Room of Barbican Centre as a part of Polish Architecture Exhibition.
Inspired by the environment of the Garden Room where each plants gather and form themselves completely different way form the one in the outdoor environment, we decided to make a sculpture which inserts the second nature to balance, or accelerate the activity of the Garden.
Each participants started from learning the collective behavior of nature and the mechanism of swarm and flock of birds which constantly deforms its formation by the amount of stress from the enermy.
Some group made an extension of the roof by using existing hanging plants, others made a structural piece by the water pond to bridge different biogeocenosis.
Through the process of building those sculpture, each participants has understood the idea of structure principles and how it affects to the form of the sculpture.

東ロンドンにあるバービカン・センター内にある屋内庭園で行われたワークショップ。
バービカン・センターは１９８２年にヨーロッパ最大規模の文化施設として建設された。ブルータリズム全盛期に建てられた建物内部は荒々しいコンクリートの肌理が特徴的で、その中心部にある屋内庭園は、温室のような環境の中で４０年の間に新たに形成された植物のエコシステムを垣間見ることができる。そこで、今回のワークショップでは自然界に現れる集合理論や集団行動、群集心理と言った「群れる」振る舞いをテーマに制作活動を行うことを考えた。まず、参加者は、庭園に自生する植物の種類やその自生環境を観察してもらうところから始まり、そこに必要な機能を備えた「第２の」自然を立体作品の形で挿入する方法を考えてもらった。
天井から垂れ下がる蔦を延長して新しい「覆い」（屋根）を作るグループや、水辺に自生する藪の中に橋をかけるような構造物を制作したグループなど植物の生息環境を読み解いた作品が制作された。
立体作品を成立させるための構造的な強度や自重の軽さなど、制作を通じて参加者が新しい解法を見つけていくプロセスも興味深いところだった。
